My experience was understanding.

For weeks I spent time on a special diet and participated in prep classes. The leader of the church offered preparation sessions where she spoke about her transformative experience. I read all the readings and did the preparation work. There was no warning or discussion that nothing might happen. I suffer from depression and anxiety, have childhood trauma, and was really hoping that this would help. Nothing. I was told, “well that just happens sometimes” in integration meetings. Feels like they promise “the universe” and then when you follow up, they responds with an “individual results will vary” response. Seems pretty irresponsible and reckless for people desperate for help.
