I had a phenomenal and transformative experience through the Leaf and De Vine church. The preparation process was extremely thoughtful and intentional and ensured everyone has the tools they needed to prepare on all levels – I especially appreciate that you are able to meet with and hear other peoples’ stories prior rather than meeting everyone for the first time at the retreat. Gervais, Kathy, and Ash were all intentional about giving guidance and being available to answer question and/or talk through concerns in the weeks leading up to ceremony. Once on site, the location space was beautiful and a great environment for ceremony. Throughout each ceremony I found the facilitators and volunteers extremely attentive and in tough with the energy in the room, thus leading to an even more powerful experience. A mix of relaxing music, energetic music, live drumming, live singing, and event poetry all added their own nuances to ceremony and followed the energy of the group thoughtfully. Gervais (or Mama Bear) is extremely knowledgable about the medicine (which is extremely helpful throughout preparation, ceremony, and in post-ceremony integration) and intentional about checking in with participants throughout the weekend (I found this especially meaningful during ceremony when she helped me get through a challenging loop I was stuck in). I also appreciate the emphasis on integration post-ceremony to ensure folks have continued support and access to community (as much or as little as they’d like). I highly recommend the Leaf and De Vine church – especially if you’re looking for a safe ceremony space for LGBTQ+ folks!
