LaWayra Ayahuasca Retreat in Colombia
About Us
Authentic Ancestral Medicine Retreat in Colombia
Our retreat in Colombia offers a genuine experience with authentic ancestral medicine, guided by skilled shamans from long lineages (Taitas) in a beautiful and serene environment. We focus on solid integration, allowing your ayahuasca experience to foster lasting positive changes in your life.
Our ceremonies are led by Taita Fernando Jojoa, who comes from the Jojoa lineage of the Inga tribe in the Putumayo region of the Colombian Amazon. With 12 years of experience as a Taita, Fernando Jojoa started his training at seven years old, drinking medicine three times a week for ten years. He is not only a knowledgeable shaman but also a talented musician.
We have a diverse team of experienced facilitators and medicine musicians from Europe, Australia, and South America. Our ceremonies and integration circles are conducted in English to ensure clear communication and support.
Throughout your stay, you will feel cared for and supported, as reflected in our numerous video and Google reviews. Join us for an authentic retreat experience in Colombia.

1 Review on “LaWayra Ayahuasca Retreat in Colombia”
In summary: didn’t feel very safe, and facilitators were very much NOT experienced.
Not a 1-star because it wasn’t a complete horror show like some other stories I have heard, but they certainly were not ready to care for and be responsive. I would not go back nor would I recommend for other people.
They do NOT have any medical staff or medical training. When somebody had serious health scares, they did not have any plan in place for emergency services, or even a qualified professional to tell if the person needed the hospital or not. They also ignored the health issue of other people with dietary issues.
The facilitators have basically NO experience. I signed up because reviews talked about some specific very knowledgeable and helpful staff members, but by the time I got there, they had left LaWayra. I have some ideas why because it seemed like a toxic environment for the people who worked there. The ones who were there were very very young. They did not have any experience until they first took the medicine themselves this year and then decided to stay and work there. This was professed by themselves! So no qualifications either. I understand wanting to stay in this space, but to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars to be led by someone who only just discovered ayahuasca themselves does not seem right. Aside from the taita medicine man, there was actually no facilitator who had experience more than a couple months.
The facilities were nice enough, but I came here for experienced guide healing, which is how they sold it. They did not actually give much help or guidance except for 5 minutes with the taita if we asked, but it was generic advice because he does not know us. I would maybe try ayahuasca again, but at a place in Peru, not here. It is maybe cheaper, but you will get better with your money elsewhere.
