Temple Abzu | Female-Led Earth Medicine Retreats on the West Coast
About Us
🌎 Temple Abzu
Temple Abzu is a woman-led Earth Medicine church serving the West Coast across Washington, Oregon, and California. We hold sacred ceremony with Grandmother Ayahuasca, the Niños Santos (psilocybin), Father Hapé, and Sapito (Bufo / 5-MeO-DMT).
We have safely held more than 100 ceremonies, supporting hundreds of people through ceremonial work rooted in Shamanism, animism, Earth-based spirituality, and direct relationship with the Medicines.
Our work is rooted in lineage, Shamanism, animism, ritual, embodiment, direct revelation, personal responsibility, and relationship with the Earth. We understand ceremony as part of a larger spiritual path, one that continues through how we live, relate, make choices, and carry what we have received into the world.
🤍 Safety is our first devotion
We hold ceremony with trauma-informed care woven together with the traditional ways we have been trained in. There is thorough preparation and screening before we ever sit, clear boundaries and consent throughout, and steady energetic and spiritual protection around the container.
As a woman-led church, we understand how much it matters to feel truly safe in such a tender and open place, and we tend that with great care.
🌿 Lineage, training, and initiation
Temple Abzu is guided by years of ceremonial practice, formal training, direct study, initiation, and ongoing apprenticeship.
Founder and spiritual leader Chelsea has studied directly with the Q’ero in Peru and was initiated as a Pampamesayoq within the Q’ero lineage, serving Ayahuasca. She has undertaken extensive Shamanic training, is a certified psychedelic integration coach, and has deep training in trauma-informed care.
Her path has been shaped through years of relationship with the Medicines, study with traditional teachers, formal initiations, and the lived practice of holding ceremony and supporting people through profound spiritual, emotional, and energetic processes.
Temple Abzu ceremonies are supported by a trained and experienced team of Ceremony Guardians.
Every member of the team is trained within Temple Abzu’s ceremonial structure and safety practices. Our Guardians also bring their own years of spiritual practice, training, initiation, and experience in areas including Shamanism, trauma-informed care, somatic work, energy healing, sound, ritual, embodiment, and service with the Medicines.
The team supports participants physically, emotionally, energetically, and spiritually throughout the retreat, allowing each person to be held with close attention and care.
Reciprocity is key to how we work. Temple Abzu is committed to giving back to the Indigenous teachers, communities, and lineages from whom these teachings have come, and to supporting the continued protection of the Medicines and the ecosystems where they grow.
🌳 Grounded and Earth-based
The Medicines open vast and luminous realms, and we keep that connected to the body, to the Earth, and to your real human life.
We honor the sacred and the unseen while keeping the work rooted in what is tangible and lived, so that what moves in ceremony can take form in the way you actually live afterward.
🌺 Intimate four-day retreats
Our four-day retreats are intentionally intimate, with no more than 13 participants and a trained ceremonial team present throughout the experience, with high ratios of staff to participants.
Temple Abzu also offers private ceremonies and private Sapito work for those called to a more individualized ceremonial setting.
We approach each Medicine according to its own spirit, traditions, preparation, and way of being held.
🌀 Preparation and integration
Preparation and integration are essential parts of the ceremonial process.
Before attending, every participant completes a detailed health and medication screening, an individual intake process, and a group preparation session. Participants also receive extensive guidance to support their physical, emotional, mental, energetic, and spiritual preparation.
Group integration is included as part of every retreat. For those who want a more personal and intensive level of support, private preparation and integration are also available as a deeper layer of care before or after ceremony.
Our intention is to support people in carrying the teachings of the medicines into their relationships, choices, responsibilities, spiritual practice, and daily lives.
🌎 Relationship with the Earth and reciprocity
Temple Abzu is devoted to restoring sacred relationship with Mother Earth, Spirit, the Medicines, and the larger web of life.
Our retreats are held in beautiful nature-based settings where the land, waters, trees, animals, ancestors, and spirits of place are part of the ceremonial relationship.
We are committed to the ethical and intentional sourcing of the Medicines, reciprocity with the lands and communities from which they come, and continued relationship with the teachers and lineages who have carried these traditions. A portion of ceremony proceeds supports Indigenous communities, Medicine conservation, and the protection of the ecosystems where these sacred plants grow.
