Noya Rao Xobo Healing Center
About Us
Noya Rao Xobo is a traditional Shipibo healing center near Iquitos, in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon. It is led by Don Wilder Mahua, who began studying the plants as a young boy with his grandfathers, the legendary Noya Rao curanderos Don Benjamin, Don Pascual, and Don Manuel Mahua. Don Wilder teaches and heals as the medicine was taught to him: with Noya Rao, the tree of light, as the foundation of the path. A Noya Rao tree grows on the property of the center.
We offer 10-day ayahuasca retreats with five ceremonies, in-depth diagnosis and consultations with Don Wilder, and a treatment protocol tailored to each person. That protocol may include vapor baths, plant baths, poultices, purgatives, and energetic work. We also offer traditional master plant dietas, an apprenticeship for dedicated students of the curandero’s path, and remote diagnosis and healing work. We are open for private and small-scale ceremonies by inquiry.
Our values are rooted in tradition, integrity, and humility. We believe the path of the plants is long and that there are no shortcuts. We keep our groups small so that Don Wilder and our facilitators can know each person, listen to their dreams and difficulties, and care for them individually.
Your safety comes before everything. Every participant is screened for physical and mental health, medications, and supplements before acceptance. The nearest hospital is over 40 minutes away, so we take no risks with anyone’s health. No exceptions. If you have a contraindicated condition or medication, we will tell you honestly whether it is safe for you to attend. In some cases a condition can first be treated with traditional plant remedies before a participant is cleared for ceremony.
